Nancy Piccirilli Bjerkeset received her Bachelor of Arts in TESOL and Cultural Studies (TESOL = Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Humboldt State University in California, USA. She has worked in both TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). At Humboldt State University she worked as an English tutor, an assistant in the physics department, and technical writer/proofreader. She taught English to immigrants in the USA both privately and for larger groups. In the field of TEFL, Nancy taught English at Guangxi University and Guangxi Institute for Nationalities in Nanning, P.R. China.
After moving to Norway in 1996 she was employed by Birralee International School in Trondheim as a mother tongue teacher. Her study of oral and written Norwegian was completed in the fall of 1997 at NTNU. She has been an English teacher for AOF, Siemens, public schools in Levanger, HUNT- Research center and Norske Skog. In addition to teaching she has edited and translated for researchers/doctors publishing their work in various medical publications and Ph.D. work.
Currently (Spring 2003) she is proofreading and translating scientific articles for English journals and teaching English at Aker Kværner, Verdal.

Ottar Bjerkeset works as a doctor at the Psychiatric department, Levanger Hospital (Sykehuset Levanger) and as a researcher at HUNT- Research center/NTNU. He will complete his specialization as a Psychiatrist April 1st, 2003. His current research project includes both clinical and epidemiological research in the areas of anxiety, depression and somatic suffering using data from the health examination (HUNT) in the county Nord-Trøndelag in Norway. Ottar and Nancy work as a team when translating and proofreading/editing medical literature.
He teaches psychiatry for nursing students at the college in Nord-Trøndelag (HiNT) and has held lectures at various meetings and seminars for health personnel. In addition, he holds a course for doctors and other health professionals on diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders.
Teaching and lectures by Ottar can be given in English, German or Norwegian.
