PSYCHIATRIC TOPICS

Ottar Bjerkeset is a psychiatrist at the Psychiatric department, Levanger Hospital, Norway. Since 1999 he has been a research fellow at NTNU working with clinical and epidemiological psychiatry.

Through ProfCom he offers several types of services regarding Psychiatry:

Teaching clinical psychiatric topics: affective disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and psychotic disorders. These topics are especially relevant for nursing students. The lecture is followed by exercises, roll play and/or group work.

Price: 900 NOK per hour (minimum five hours a day). The abstract/hand-out (PowerPoint) is sent to the employer via e-mail before the lecture date. This makes the lecture easier to follow and allows more time for questions and discussion. Lectures on other topics within psychiatry are available upon request.

Lectures for health workers and other groups include: diagnosing psychiatric disorders, results from psychiatric research and psychiatric epidemiology (causal relationship, occurrence/incidence, and course of psychiatric suffering).   The price depends on the length of the lecture/course and the preparation time.

Lectures and courses can be held in Norwegian, English, or German.
